Lament For Booker Ervin massive attack Upon release in 1971The 1965 Berlin all star saxophone concert was overcrowded and musicians were limited to a 15 minute performance. In protest, tenor saxophonist Booker Ervin played a stirring and intense rendition of "Blues for You" for an unprecedented 27 minutes, stunning the audience. "Lament for Booker" (led by pianist Horace Parlan) was released in 1975, 10 years after Ervin's death. It was a homage to the passion and emotion of his Berlin performance.
